Meet the Apraku family from Fetteh, Winneba — a story of strength, love, and rising together

April 23, 2025 | News

Martha Budu, a devoted mother and caregiver, is raising her twin sons, Bernard and Enock, with unwavering determination. Bernard, who experiences a communication disorder and drooling, and Enock, who lives with cerebral palsy, each faced unique challenges early on.

When they joined the MultiKids Africa programme in October 2024, Martha was ready to fight for a better future for her children. At the time, Bernard had not yet started school, and Enock was struggling with severe malnutrition. Despite limited resources and relying on extended family support, Martha never gave up.

Since then, the transformation has been powerful. Bernard now attends school regularly and communicates with growing confidence, with a noticeable reduction in his drooling. Enock has made remarkable progress — gaining weight and now proudly taking steps on his own.

Driven by her entrepreneurial spirit and supported by MultiKids Africa, our local partner organisation, Martha launched her own business selling roasted maize, millet, and groundnuts. With this, she created a stable income and a renewed sense of independence for her family.

The Apraku family’s journey is a shining example of resilience, community, and the unstoppable impact of a mother’s love. With the right support and their own strength, they are not just surviving — they are thriving.
