We are proud to share the insightful article “Lessons Learnt from a Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Model in Manikganj (Bangladesh)”, written by Els Heijnen, Antoinette Termoshuizen, and Huib Cornielje (the member of our Supervisory Board).

Although written in 2024, this article remains highly relevant today — offering thoughtful insights into sustainable, community-based rehabilitation approach.

Since 2013, the Disability Rehabilitation and Research Association (DRRA) and Niketan, with support from the Enablement Foundation, have been working together to make rehabilitation services accessible for children with complex and multiple disabilities in rural Bangladesh.

Through innovative “veranda schools”, active parent platforms, and dedicated community volunteers, this CBR model has shown how local empowerment, collaboration, and inclusion can transform lives — turning hidden challenges into visible change.

The article dives into:
